Portugal tops tourist destinations for CNT
Portugal won for the first time the Conde Naste Traveler award, now in its fifth edition, surpassing Argentina, Spain, United States, Italy and Thailand from a total of 24 destinations. The landscapes, gastronomy, beaches and the friendliness of the Portuguese people were the reason for the distinction.
The magazine highlights the “special charm visible in their traditions, with cities that combine modernity with noticeable weight of history,” or “landscapes and beaches that we reconcile with nature.” “And a key ingredient, the Portuguese people, who seduce you with its charm and friendliness.”
“This award reinforces the visibility of Portugal as a tourist destination of excellence from Spain, one of its main international markets, which in 2012 generated more than three million room nights and more than one billion euros in revenues,” stressed the Portuguese Tourism Board (Turismo de Portugal).
