Rota Vicentina’s video wins two more international awards after the Golden City Award received last February in Berlin during the ITB – the world’s biggest tourism fair – the Rota Vicentina promotional video received two more international awards, this
time in Las Vegas, USA, and in Riga, Latvia.
The New York Festivals International Television & Film Awards ceremony, which took place on April 9th, awarded Rota Vicentina’s promotional video with a “Bronze World Medal”. This is one of the oldest and most well-known festivals in the world, with a jury of about two hundred experts of different nationalities.
In Latvia, the International Tourism Film Festival “Tourfilm Riga – 2013” awarded the video with the second prize for the “Commercial Tourism and Commercials” category, during a ceremony which took on April 27th .
The Rota Vicentina, as a sustainable tourism project, has already won other prizes including the Welcome to Portugal Award given by the LIDE, the Merit Award by the British Guild of Travel Writers and the Innovation Publituris “Portugal Trade Award” received in February at the BTL, in Lisbon.
About the video
Combining nature with the existing tourist facilities, against a backdrop of quality and sustainability, is the main goal of this project. The video follows the same spirit, and this new international awards reveal the huge potential this project represents.
The video stands out for the authenticity of its message while promoting one of the most beautiful and well preserved European coastal areas – Alentejo and Vicentina Coast – and the most natural of all human physical activities – walking. Truly stunning landscapes, getting in touch with nature and an interaction with the local inhabitants are the essence of this video on a par with the increasingly popular activity in Europe, which is travelling on foot.
Filming took place all over the region during 10 days, capturing countless images and locations from the north to the south, from the interior to the coastline. All the characters in the video are real southwest inhabitants, including the leading actor. The only exception is the narrator, José Fidalgo, who is a Portuguese popular actor. His voice gave a very unconventional mood to the film, reflecting the whole project’s philosophy. The soundtrack, entitled “Golden Days”, was produced by one of the video’s directors, Danilo Warick, and inspired by the atmosphere surrounding the filming.
