“The Marker” by Portuguese architects
Portuguese architects Mateus and Associados were the designers of the new eight storey boutique hotel “The Marker”, recently inaugurated in Grand Canal Square in Dublin´s docklands.
Standing on just four walls, the new building is considered ” the most complex cantilevered structure ever built in Ireland”. It was commissioned in 2003 to the Aires Mateus brothers who choose to collaborate with the Dublin based McCauley Daye O´Connell Architects. It has 187 guest rooms, a spa, 84 serviced apartments, a conference centre and three restaurants, one at the roof top where the hotel´s theatricality reaches it´s climax.
